Hermes Manufacture de Boucleries Detail Scarf
Design History: Gianpaolo Pagni likes to appropriate all kinds of documents, which he brings to life and makes scintillate with coloured stamps. For Manufacture de boucleries, the Italian artist was inspired by a vintage album presenting harness and saddlery items. The detail chosen in this scarf focuses on a collection of bridle rings and harness horns. Designed for horse collars, they were decorated with horse heads and those of other animals. Geometric motifs – chevrons, interlacing, triangles, a sunburst and a spiral – frame these depictions. Printed with stamps, they highlight by contrast the figurative style of the original illustrative plate.
